The Regular Season in BSN is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The biggest surprise took place in Arecibo where host Capitanes (15-13) beat league's leader Piratas (18-11) 94-77 on Saturday evening. Arecibo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Brandon Knight (190-1991, college: Kentucky) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. The other American import forward Jamil Wilson (201-1990, college: Marquette) chipped in 8 points and 14 rebounds. The former international swingman Carlos Emory (196-1991) produced 13 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Piratas' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Arecibo maintains third position with 15-13 record having nine points less than leader Mayaguez. Quebradillas at the other side still keep top place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Mayaguez. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mayaguez. Quebradillas will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Arecibo will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Quebradillas on the road.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Indios as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Indios defeated 5th ranked Atleticos in Mayaguez 92-74. New Zealand forward Samuel Waardenburg (208-1999, college: Miami, FL) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Milton Doyle contributed with 14 points and 7 assists for the winners. Naturalized American center Antonio Gordon (206-2001, college: Oklah.Christian) replied with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for San German. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indios (18-11) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Quebradillas. San German at the other side keeps the fifth place with 17 games lost. San German will play next round against Aguada trying to get back on the winning streak. Mayaguez will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Carolina on the road.
Top ranked Vaqueros (22-8) recorded its eighth loss in Caguas on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Criollos (18-13) 102-93. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Louis King scored 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Criollos' coach Wilhelmus Caanen used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Danilo Gallinari responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Caguas maintains third position with 18-13 record having three points less than leader Mayaguez. Loser Vaqueros still keeps top place with eight games lost. Caguas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bayamon will play against Ponce and hope to secure a win.
Rest of the games of round 26 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Carolina crushed Manati in a road game 112-91. Santurce beat Aguada at home 98-89. Caguas were destroyed by Carolina on the opponent's court 114-86.
